Houses on a lagoon
VELA
A one-page website for a house developer.

Vela builds four houses on a lagoon, one design turned four ways to the water. The site is made to do what a brochure cannot: show the house as it is, in the light it was designed for.
As the page scrolls, the house rises on its empty lot as a white model, takes its stone, teak and glass, and becomes real footage walking up to it. On the way the view closes in on the upper window and marks it up: its outline, its width and height, and what it is made of.
Below that, the rooms are walked through one after another, the three materials are named on a photograph of the entrance, and a viewing request is written out for WhatsApp with the house, the day and the time already in it.
It is at its best on a desktop screen. A site told in film weighs several times more than a usual one, and on a slow connection it takes a moment longer to arrive; for a business whose visitors come to look closely, that is a fair trade, and where speed matters more the same site can be built lighter.
The idea
A house is sold on how it feels to walk up to it at the end of the day. The aim was a page that does that walk for the visitor, and stops to point at the things a buyer asks about.
Designed and built by codenform.
What I built
- A house built by the scroll
- The window measured on the footage
- Rooms walked through as you scroll
- Materials marked up on one photograph
- Houses shown as sold, reserved or available
- A viewing request written for WhatsApp
